In this workshop, the European Language Resource Coordination Consortium gathers decision-makers and experts from the Latvian State Administration, Research and Technology Community in order to promote cooperation at the national and European levels for broader use of Latvian language technologies in public administration and digital services.

Multilingualism is one of Europe's greatest value, but at the same time it is also a challenge faced by many institutions in their daily work. Language technologies facilitate communication in different languages and the exchange of documents between European public authorities. Artificial intelligence-based solutions - machine translation, multilingual access to websites, speech recognition and smart assistants - are changing how public administrations, citizens and businesses communicate in the digital environment. To ensure equal opportunities for everyone, the European Commission and Latvian State Administration institutions provide technological platforms for automated translation and multilingual communication.

At the seminar, officials of the European Commission, representatives of public institutions, language technologists and language service providers will share best practices, experiences and highlight development challenges for the wider use of language technologies in public services and the work of public administrations. Your views and participation are of the utmost importance for developing language technology services tailored to your needs at the national and European levels.

Welcome to the ELRC seminar. Its organiser is the European Language Resource Coordination Consortium in cooperation with the Culture Information Systems Centre; the local organiser is the language technology company Tilde.
